A lot of us thought it was just a hoax but it turns out the
Pepsi phone is legit. Made by Chinese manufacturer Shenzen Scooby
Communications Equipment, the phone offers mid-range specs at a very affordable
price.
The device is built around a 5.5-inch Full HD display with
2.5D glass and is housed in an aluminum unibody chasis. The internals is composed
of a MediaTek MT6592 chipset with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage.
There’s a 13MP camera at the back of the phone with LED
flash that sits a few inches above the fingerprint scanner. There’s also a 5MP
snapper for selfies, a 3000mAh battery and 4G LTE connectivity.
The phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with a software
called dido OS on top. It doesn’t seem that Pepsi has put something extra on
the phone with the exception of their logo at the back.
The handset is now available for shipping in China for just
$110, though early birds can get the device at a much cheaper rate from JD.com.
