It looks like it’s that time of the year, when Chinese
smartphone makers are announcing updates to their product line. A few days ago,
we saw Oppo announce a new member of its Neo family – the Oppo Neo 7. Now, it’s
Huawei’s time to make an announcement with the unveiling of the new Honor 5X in
China.
The device comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD panel and features
a Snapdragon 616 chipset with two 64-bit quad-core processors, an Adreno 405
GPU, up to 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage.
There’s a 13MP camera on the back, which sits between the
fingerprint sensor and the dual LED flash. Sitting at the front of the device
is a 5MP snapper while energy is provided by a 3000mAh battery that supports Quick
Charge 3.0, which Huawei claims can charge 50% of the device’s battery in under
30 minutes.
As far as connectivity goes, the Honor 5X comes with
dual-SIM functionality, 4G LTE on both card slots and the usual mix of
connectivity features including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The phone will retail for $220 for the 3GB RAM version while
the watered down 2GB RAM version should sell for $157.
