Popular optical instruments manufacturer Carl Zeiss is
giving Samsung’s Gear VR a run for its money with its very affordable $99 VR
One headset. And although the same and functionality might be the same as the
Gear VR, the one that’s Carl Zeiss is proposing is compatible with different
smartphones from other brands.
Just like the Gear VR, the virtual reality headset from Carl
Zeiss will make use of a couple of lens and a smartphones display in order to
project images into a user’s eyes. The device will be compatible with
smartphones with 4.7- and 5.2-inch displays, but users will need to order the
specific “drawer” size that fits their phone.
Carl Zeiss is plotting the VR One’s shipment by early 2015
again for $99 which includes one smartphone drawer. Those who need a different
size drawer for their phones can add $9.90 separately.
