The Clamshell Phone is Coming Back (Again) with LG
Monday, September 22, 2014
Koreans are probably still very much attached to the clamshell design on smartphones. Last year, Samsung announced the Galaxy Folder aka the Henessy in China, officially marking the return of the flip phones at least in one side of the globe. Today, another Korean company is announcing a new phone that has the same form factor.
LG and its Wine Smart flip phone has just been announced in Korea. The device is sporting a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The display is at 3.5-inches and has a resolution of 320x480 pixels.
According to LG, the Wine Smart will be targeted to elderly people as well as those with disabilities. There’s no word on pricing yet, but LG plans to make the phone available by September 26 in Korea.
