HTC’s newest phablet has just been announced in the land of the rising sun. The new J Butterfly is based on the company’s current flagship phone – the One M8.
The phone is built around a 5-inch display with Full HD resolution. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with support for microSD card expansion. There’s a 13MP at the back of the phone with a secondary depth sensor just like the One M8.
There’s also a 5MP front-facing camera and 4G LTE connectivity. The phone is waterproof which means the front-facing BoomSound speakers had to go in favor of a pair of in-ear JBL headset.
The J Butterfly also supports the HTC Dot View case and will run on Android 4.4 KitKat. It will be available in Japan starting August through KDDI. There’s no word yet on pricing and international availability.
