The success of Xiaomi’s Mi smartphones has definitely left a
mark in the industry. For a Chinese manufacturer, its flagship smartphones have
generated enough waves to rival that of bigger brands. And this week, Xiaomi
has done it again with the Mi4.
The company’s newest flagship smartphone the Mi4 was
recently unveiled in China. Following the Mi tradition, the Mi4 sports
top-notch specs starting off with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with a
2.5GHz quad-core processor, 3GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage.
On the display side, the Mi4 boasts a 5.0-inch display with
Full HD resolution from Sharp or JDI with One Glass Solution. There’s also a
13MP rear camera and an 8MP snapper on the front with a Sony CMOS sensor.
The phone has a 3080mAh battery and runs Android 4.4 KitKat
with the latest MIUI 6 on top. The device is made out of plastic which comes in
different finishes including wood, bamboo, marble, fabric and leather and is
bound by a stainless steel on the side.
The Xiaomi Mi4 will retail for around $320 for the 16GB
model and $400 for the 64GB version.
Aside from the Mi4, Xiaomi also announced its own
fitness-focused wearable – the Mi Band. The device is capable of tracking
various activities including walking or running, as well as a user’s sleep
patterns.
The band can also be used as an alarm that vibrates to wake
you up. Xiaomi claims the band can last up to 30 days on a single charge and is
also waterproof. Lastly, the band can allow a user to automatically unlock a
smartphone when it’s within proximity.
But the best feature of the Mi Band has to be its price.
Compared to other fitness trackers from other manufacturers, Xiaomi will be
selling the device for a mere $13.
