Ever since its launch in 2012, Nike’s FuelBand fitness
tracker has remained exclusive to iOS-powered smartphones. Thankfully, the
popular and highly acclaimed fitness band becomes is now officially compatible
with Android smartphones thanks to its companion app that was released today.
The Nike FuelBand and FuelBand SE are fitness trackers that
record any form of physical activity and stores them in an online community so
that users will be able to track their progress and share them with other
people.
However, the app will only be compatible with a certain
number of handsets. These include the last three Galaxy S models (starting with
the S3), the HTC One M8, LG Nexus 5 and Motorola’s Moto X (given they are
running on Android 4.3 or later). The app will allow users of the said devices
to access the Nike FuelScore information and history, track and receive progress
updates for a set daily goal, and access to the FuelScore leader boards.
The app is now available to FuelBand owners in the United
States, UK, Canada, Germany and Japan. Nike is yet to announce the app’s rollout
to other countries, as well as in other phone models but we’ll keep everyone
posted when more information becomes available.
