Startups are now becoming increasingly popular thanks to
their unorthodox structure that makes them very attractive to employees and
investors. This same unusual structure gives startups a unique perspective into
things allowing them to build and offer solutions that most huge companies
foresee. One particular firm to follow this model is Guestlist.ph.

Founded by Ron Baetiong, Guestlist.ph started out as a
concept for Baetiong’s College thesis back in 2009, and eventually made it to
reality just last year when the company released the iOS version of the app.
Since then the tech startup has amassed 28,000 members just on iPhone users
alone. And last month, the company launched the Android version of the app
giving the 22 million Android users in the Philippines the same functionality
and privileges as the one on iOS.
Essentially, the app tries to offer a solution to problems
faced by party- and club-goers in the metro.
If you’re used to going to clubs and bars, you’ve probably
spent the first hour or two just lining up outside waiting for other guests to
be checked off the club’s guest list. And that’s if you’re lucky enough to know
someone who can get you a slot on the list. With Guestlist.ph, users who have
installed the app on their phone are instantly granted easy access to any
partner club or event with a tap of a button.
When somebody says you should work hard and play harder, we say you should work hard but party easy.
The app will require users to connect their Facebook account
to Guestlist.ph, which will then be used as a basis for identification. Each
user will be given a unique party ID in the form of a QR code, which the user
will need to present to the club upon arrival.
The club in turn will have a QR code scanner on site which
will read the party ID and reveal the user’s information. Do note that the app
will also use your Facebook profile picture so it is advisable that you use a
picture that shows your face in order for clubs to better identify you.
At present, Guestlist.ph has 18 club partners in Metro
Manila including Republiq, Haze, TIME, Palladium and Prive to name a few with
more clubs to be added in the future. VIP membership comes in three packages:
Silver VIP for an all-access pass to all clubs in North of Manila (mostly QC),
Gold VIP – an all-access pass to clubs South of Manila (including those in
Makati) and Platinum VIP which gives an all-access pass to all partner clubs
including exclusive parties like raves and concerts.
Other features that will also be incorporated on future
versions of the app include bottle
services that will allow users to buy drinks before they go to the club, table reservations and party rewards wherein users will earn
party points giving them more privileges.
Guestlist.ph is now available for download on Google Play
and the Apple App store, while premium memberships can be purchased using
DragonPay or PayPal.
