Companies that manufacture wearables such as smart watches
and fitness bands are almost wholly invested in the production of wearables for
Android and iOS devices. So anyone using a handset running on a different
operating system will certainly be left out. But that condition might change in
the very near future as Fitbit has confirmed that the company will soon create
an app that will allow Windows Phone users to join the wearable bandwagon.
The confirmation was made in the forum of WPCentral,
specifically at the Fitbit community thread. Fitbit didn’t reveal any details
about the app but it should support majority of the company’s products
including the Fitbit Flex, Fitbit Force and the Fitbit One.
Naturally, the lack of details make this story quite a cliff
hanger, but one thing’s for sure. If Fitbit is able to make this app work the
soonest possible time, it will definitely secure a huge lead over other
wearable-makers in the market outside iOS and Android. Other than Fitbit, only
Microsoft is rumoured to be working on a wearable that will work with Windows
Phone.
