Computex is usually the place where PC makers unveil their
latest laptops and PCs that run on a full-fledged computer operating system
just like Windows 8.1. But it looks like HP is breaking this tradition by
announcing the HP
SlateBook that we saw a few weeks ago.
The device will run on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and will be
powered by an Nvidia Tegra 4 chip with a 1.8GHz quad-core CPU, 2GB of DDR3L
SDRAM, and up to 64GB of on-board storage. The laptop also has a 14-inch FHD
BrightView LED-backlit display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
In terms of connectivity, the SlateBook boasts multiple
ports for streaming content including HDMI, one USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0
ports, audio mic/headset jack, a microSD card reader, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and
Bluetooth connectivity. There’s also a front-facing HP TrueVision HD webcam
with an integrated digital microphone and Beats Audio quad-speakers. HP
promises up to 9 hours of battery life for the SlateBook as well as a
comfortable full-size keyboard, a precise touchpad and a smooth on-screen
touchscreen display.
The HP SlateBook will be available by August 6th
in the US starting at $399.
