Apple’s iMac is probably one of the best looking and best
performing all-in-one desktop computers in the market. And just like other
Apple products, the iMac commands a premium price with the cheapest iMac priced
at around $1299. Today, Apple is slashing $200 of this price and offering a new
model.
But of course there’s a catch with this price drop. And most
of it is in the performance department. The lower price means Apple had to use
lower spec’d components for the new iMac. Specifically, the processor has been
downgraded from 2.7GHz quad-core CPU to a 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
processor. Storage and graphics are also affected. The new model will now pack
a standard 500GB hard disk (or a 256GB SSD) and Intel HD Graphics 5000.
Other than the ones mentioned above, the rest of the specs remain
unchanged including the screen size and included accessories and software (or
the lack of it). The new iMac model is now available on the Apple store for
$1099.
