Oppo’s streak of midrange and high-end smartphones has
propelled the Chinese brand into the same playing field as Samsung, LG and HTC.
But today, the company has introduced new smartphone model that’s close to what
other Chinese manufacturers are doing.
The Oppo Joy is a dual-SIM smartphone that features as
MediaTek chip with a 1.3GHz dual-core Cortex-A7 processor, a Mali400 GPU, 512MB
of RAM and 4GB of built-in storage that can be expanded using a microSD card.
The phone packs a 4-inch WVGA display, a 3MP+VGA camera
combo, HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a 1700mAh battery. Just like other Oppo
phones, the Joy will run on ColorOS on top of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
Oppo is planning to sell the phone in Indonesia for $138.
There’s no word yet if the Chinese manufacturer will be bringing it to other
markets but with its current expansion, there’s a possibility that the Joy will
reach other developing markets.
