Aside from Samsung, only Nikon was brave enough to put
Android OS in a camera with its Coolpix S800c, which was released back in 2012.
This year, Nikon is taking a second shot at an Android camera with the Coolpix
S810c.
The camera comes with a 16MP BSI CMOS sensor with vibration
reduction function. The Coolpix S810c also comes with a Nikkor lens with 12x
optical zoom that covers 25-300mm range of angles. It is also equipped with
Dynamic Fine Zoom, which enables approximately 24x zoom for a maximum focal
length equivalent to approximately 600mm.
The Coolpix S810c also comes with a 3.7-inch 1229k-dot
electrostatic TFT LCD touchscreen monitor with anti-reflection coating and
Clear Color Display with brightness adjustment. The display has a WVGA
resolution that offers sharp and clear previews of images taken.
Nikon has equipped the Coolpix S810c with Android 4.2.2
Jelly Bean with Wi-Fi support. Having Android on-board means the camera is
compatible with apps. The S810c comes with Google apps including Gmail, Google
Maps, Google+ and YouTube.
The Coolpix S810c also comes with Nikon’s Image Space app
that allows users to directly access the company’s image storage and sharing
service. This will allow users to upload their images anytime and anywhere, and
at the same time utilizes the camera’s comment function.
Other notable features of the Nikon Coolpix S810c include
A-GPS, an 1850mAh battery, headset connector, various shooting functions
(including Easy Auto mode, Scene mode, Smart Portrait mode and Special Effects
Mode).
